Sustainable, efficient building is at the core of our company values. From using solar power and eco-friendly materials, harvesting rainwater through water catchment systems, and utilizing energy-efficient designs, protecting and preserving the environment is always a priority. We pride ourselves on continuing to stay current in our knowledge of building science to use the most current data in our projects.  Not only does this value ensure we’re doing our part to keep the beauty of the Pacific Northwest alive, but it also adds to the longevity of the building.

Leadership

Dave Root Associate Principal

Dave has been designing homes for over 30 years, and traces his love of the craft to the inspiration he drew from growing up in a 200 year-old home in New England. From the hewn timbers, square nails in plank floors, and hand-forged hinges and latches, his childhood home embodied what would shape his career; designing modern day homes that are practical, beautiful and enduring.

Early in his career, Dave balanced completing his education in the architecture field–he has both Bachelor and Master of Architecture degrees from UW–with hands-on work experience as a carpenter and furniture-maker. His background and education make him well versed in architectural design to work seamlessly with architects and create work that is compelling both visually and functionally.  Dave joined the company in 2012. He lives with his wife in Seattle and likes to spend his spare time on home improvement projects and traveling.

Chris Thomas Founding Principal

As the youngest in a family with an engineer father and an architect mother, Chris Thomas was drawn to the design and building industries from an early age. Chris brings a unique knowledge of Seattle building culture to the company; he has a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and experience working with everything from yachts to residential properties to commercial development. He is steeped in the traditional and current building & design fields of the Pacific Northwest, making him a highly skilled manager who tirelessly strives for the client’s vision and unique possibilities in each project. He co-founded Thomas-Fragnoli in 2009. Chris lives with his wife and two chocolate labs, splitting his time between Seattle and the Methow Valley. He can be found mountain biking, skiing, or fly-fishing in his free time.

Paul Fragnoli Founding Principal

Paul Fragnoli has been passionate about construction for the majority of his life, starting in the late 1970s when he helped build his family’s homestead in the San Juan Islands. Paul is an alum of a Seattle boat-building school and founded his first design and construction business called High Seas Construction in 2000, then co-founded Thomas-Fragnoli in 2009. Paul’s extensive experience as a builder, project manager, and business owner gives him the perspective and tools for incredible outcomes at each level of a project. Paul lives with his wife and three sons in Ballard. In his free time, he can be found at Lopez Island cabin, playing soccer or boating through the beautiful San Juans.
